I’m a Scottish playwright and author. I live in Edinburgh with my wife Sara, my son Charlie, and a couple of crazy cats.
Between 2006 and 2015, I completed thirty plays, many of which were produced in festivals throughout Scotland
by That’s Lunch Productions. My forte and preferred medium of expression is Scottish vernacular, and my works tend to highlight the wickedness of human nature and mankind’s inherent instinct for survival. Several of my plays have been longlisted
and shortlisted in competitions throughout the UK, and my one-man piece Depravity won an Arts Trust for Scotland Award In 2012. I’ve also been on the shortlist for the Scottish New Playwrights Award.
A few years ago I decided to
take the plunge into prose. I’m currently working on my 5th manuscript. My debut novel - Jimmy this, Jimmy that - has been independently published and is available from my website bookshop, Amazon, and a number of online retailers. My 3rd book - Let
Sleeping Dogs Lie - has been picked up by Bookseeker Literary agency; and my fourth book is still sitting in a drawer, finished, but wondering why it isn’t receiving any love. My other manuscript is a novella called Some Doors Close, which has been self-published
and can also be bought from my website bookshop or Amazon.
I’ve also studied writing courses at both Edinburgh University and the Traverse Theatre, and used to work as a reviewer for The Wee Review and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
